LEADERSHIP STYLE IN STUDENT ORGANIZATION

By: Krisnanda

Leadership is very important for any organization including a project organization. Without leadership, we can`t achieve the desired goal of the organization. It means, to lead the organization we have to know about leadership. Because to the lead, we have to make a process of motivating and directing the

members of the organization to work together doing their tasks in order to achieve the desired goal of the organization.[1]

Today most students are not aware of the organization. Several things the organization not important for Reviews their life. So from this fact, we can see that the student prefers to increase the cumulative index of achievement in the study (GPA) better than improving soft skills in the organization and building a network in the organization.

According to Thomas J. Neff and James M. Citrin in his book Lessons From The Top, says that "the key to success is determined by 90% of soft skills and only 10% is determined by the hard skills".[2] From this argument, we can conclude that the influence of soft skills in achieving success. Therefore, to achieve success in life, we must contribute to these capabilities that we be obtained from the organization.

According to my perspective, the ideal student is one who can make a balance between his academic studies, social activities, organizations, and relationship to God. From this view, it can be concluded also that the students have to balance between academic studies and organization. Thus, it is important for students to understand it to improve themselves.

Duty as a student in addition to being an academic, a student is required to organize, communicate, and socialize well. Because such knowledge would not be able to earn in the classroom of a university lectures. Even this science is what will actually be equipped them when it comes directly to the association in the wider community. The science of life will only be obtained by pro-active involved in campus activities and not only to be found in the course.

In the organization is a challenge for the students is a commitment. How to sacrifice some of his students to take care of an organization. Very often students who have joined the organization then stopped because a reason is the several things do not know how important the knowledge that we will get in the organization for the future. So it is necessary for students to restore the initial spirit that made them eager to build the nation through the organization.

So, needs to re-thinking step in revitalizing the students who had been paralyzed. There are four steps mere attempt to re-charge the intellectual spirit Students in the organization as an agent of change for the nation.[3]

1.     Increase the value of spirituality.

Good vertical relationship to the creator is a great way to be able to change the pattern of life and thought of a student. Students away from God will only make students more and more arrogant and confused because of not being able to get lean on when he was in brackets by a problem. It is important for students to always draw closer to Allah SWT.

Once said by Ali Bin Abi Thalib: Those who do not know God, then he will not get to know him. These words affirm that without spirituality closeness to the creator, students will not be able to undergo their role as agents of change.[4]

2.     Strengthening the role of the Social.

Sometimes student apathy towards the surrounding social environment, so the impact is they tend to close themselves from the association community. In fact, that's actually when students have a great opportunity to show that they had a big hand in social change. In this case, the student should be able to go straight into the association community at large. Both the public within the campus or outside the campus.

3.     Pro-Active in campus activities.

Duty as a student in addition to being an academic, a student is required to organize, communicate, and socialize well. Because such knowledge would not be able to earn in the classroom of university lectures. Even this science is what will actually be equipped them when it comes directly to the association in the wider community. The science of life will only be obtained by pro-active involved in campus activities and not only to be found in the course.

4.     Balancing the academic.

Solid student activity should not be an excuse for not performing and able to work. Students are able to balance between academic and practical, in fact, is an agent of change and the intellectual student actually. Students that one side is not blind to the reality of life around which there is, on the other hand, he is serious in doing their mandate as a claimant science.

Indonesia will never be able to rise without unity, unity is born of a similarity, together in joy and sorrow. In accordance with the third principle of Pancasila, "Unity of Indonesia", this precept confirms the above single I Indonesia, although different still one nevertheless.

Thus the student organization is an important role in the progress and unity of the Indonesian nation. As seen from the role of the organization that creates unity among the students.

In this context the student must be able to create a good organization that will make this nation forward. Students as agents of change and intellectuals should be able to provide the best in the nation. So as to give a role and contribute to the advancement of the nation. And be able to overcome all the problems facing the nation, illuminating, and fertilize the soil that had been barren with effective organizational skills.
